2019 Trip scheduled for June 28–July 12

Experience both the ancient and modern wonders of Peru. Join us in late June and early July for a trip you will always remember. We will visit Lima then fly to the mountains to visit Puno, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and wonderful stops in between.

The capital city has much to offer, and we will spend our first day there. Wonderful restaurants, craft markets, and a shopping experience built into the cliffs facing the sea will all be part of our Lima experience.

Our trips always include Machu Picchu, but we will see much more than the famous “lost city” of the Incas. Here are a few pictures from previous visits to that site, starting with a view of the ancient city from the south.

There will be time to explore the ruins and the surrounding area. Many of our guests have taken the moderate hike to the “Sun Gate” on previous trips.

Others have climbed Wayna Picchu, one of the peaks overlooking Machu Picchu. I have made the climb to the summit several times and would be happy to do it again if any of our guests want to go.

A great deal of reconstruction work has been completed in the last few years based on archeological data gathered over the previous decades. Because of this, I plan to descend the far side of Wayna Picchu to view what has recently been uncovered there.

On every trip at least a few of our guests rise early the day after we arrive in Aguas Calients to make the trip up the mountain to view the sunrise from Machu Picchu.
